We are live throughout the weekdays and even on the weekends, a rare feat in radio these days. WATZ plays “Today’s Country” with a bit of classic country thrown into the mix., as well as polkas on our popular “Sunday Morning in Poland” show.
WATZ has a long, rich heritage in the broadcast industry. The station was the first commercial broadcast facility in Alpena, and one of the first in Northern Lower Michigan. It is still owned by the same family who founded the station in 1946.
WATZ plays a Hot Country format, throwing in some of the classics that seem to only get better with age. Ben Stevens anchors WATZ's popular morning show, Shannon Roeske keeps you company in the late morning and early afternoon with her quick wit and quirky sense of humor and veteran radio personality, Mike Rhea, entertains and informs on the drive home!
