Job Title: Marketing Consultant
 

Job Overview:

As a Marketing Consultant at Midwestern Broadcasting, you’ll work directly with local businesses to understand their goals and challenges, then craft multi-platform marketing strategies—radio, digital, on‑air promotions, events—that elevate their brand and deliver measurable results. You’ll leverage our full suite of stations (WTCM-FM, WTCM-AM, WKLT, WCCW and Z93) to create the ideal campaign mix tailored to the customer’s audience and objectives 
 

Responsibilities:

  1. Build strong, consultative relationships with new and existing clients across Traverse City and Alpena.

  2. Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to define marketing objectives.

  3. Design integrated advertising proposals combining radio, digital, live events, and sponsorships.

  4. Collaborate with producers and creative staff to ensure professional, high-quality ads and jingles.

  5. Present campaign proposals and negotiate contracts with an eye toward exceeding sales goals.

  6. Oversee campaign scheduling, execution, and post-campaign reporting using audience metrics and ROI analyses.

  7. Represent Midwestern at client meetings, station-sponsored events and community engagements 

  8. Stay ahead of marketing and media trends to continuously improve campaign efficacy.
     

Qualifications:​​

  1. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation abilities.

  2. Self-motivated, highly organized, with the ability to juggle multiple client projects.

  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  4. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client locations across Northern Michigan.

  5. A creative, entrepreneurial spirit paired with strong business acumen.
     

Preferred Traits:

  1. Minimum 2+ years of experience in media advertising, marketing, or consultative sales.

  2. Familiarity with radio broadcasting and digital advertising tools.

  3. Passion for storytelling and brand building through community-rooted radio.

  4. Experience with event marketing and sponsorship activation.

  5. Knowledge of Nielsen ratings, Google Analytics, or other audience measurement tools is a plus.

Job Title: Full-time On-Air Personality ​

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our radio team as an On-Air Personality for our Alpena, MI Market. You will be responsible for creating engaging and entertaining on-air content, connecting with the audience, producing recorded promos and client commercials and playing music to enhance the overall listener experience. This role requires a passion for music, excellent communication skills, and the ability to think on your feet.

Responsibilities:

  1. On-Air Presence:

    • Host live on-air radio shows, delivering entertaining and informative content.

    • Engage with listeners through phone calls, social media, and other interactive platforms.

  2. Technical Proficiency:

    • Operate and control on-air broadcasting equipment.

    • Ensure smooth transitions between songs, ads, and other on-air elements.

    • Interact with audience within our station's social media platforms. 

  3. Live Events:

    • Occasionally assist in the execution of station events, promotions, and contests 

    • Occasionally attend public appearances and represent the station at community events and paid client remotes/events.

  4. Scripting and Preparation:

    • Plan and prepare show content, including scripts, interviews, and promotions.

    • Research and gather information for on-air discussions and features.

    • Collaborate with producers and other team members to enhance show quality.

 

Qualifications:​

  1. Communication Skills:

    • Exceptional verbal communication skills and the ability to improvise when necessary.

    • Engaging and relatable on-air personality.

  2. Technical Proficiency:

    • Familiarity with radio broadcasting equipment and software.

    • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.

    • Proficiency with social media

  3. Creativity:

    • Innovative thinking to develop unique show concepts and promotions.

    • Ability to inject creativity into on-air content and delivery.

  4. Team Player:

    • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with producers, fellow DJs, and station management.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and show formats.

  5. Previous Experience:

    • Prior experience as a Radio DJ or in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
