It is to be included in our public file on or before the anniversary of our renewal of license application, which is June 1 of each year. Our “employment unit” consists of WTCM (AM), WTCM-FM, WCCW (AM), WCCW-FM, Traverse City, and WJZQ (FM), Cadillac, WBCM (FM) Boyne City and WCZW (FM) Charlevoix (All in Michigan).

V. DESCRIPTION OF INITIATIVES LISTED IN 47 CFR §73.2080(c)(2) TAKEN BY OUR EMPLOYMENT UNIT:
Ø Job Fair(s) – John Dew, EEO Coordinator for Midwestern Broadcasting attended the annual Career Fair at CMU on March 31, 2007, on behalf of WTCM AM & FM; WCCW AM & FM; WJZQ FM; WATZ AM & FM WBCM FM and WCZW FM – the stations of Midwestern Broadcasting Company. The Fair was attended by approximately 83 students and had 22 professional broadcast and production companies hosting tables and information areas.
On Wednesday, October 18, 2006, John Dew attended a Career Fair at Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield, Michigan. The event was well attended and a large number of students stopped to inquire regarding broadcasting as a career.
Ø Educational Events relating to career opportunities in broadcasting
WATZ manager Mike Centala attended and represented Midwestern Broadcasting Company at a job fair at Alpena Community College on March 15, 2007. A total of approximately 200 attended. Centala did a presentation on careers in radio and on broadcasting in general. Mr. Centala conducted two separate sessions to accommodate interested attendees.
Ø Participation in scholarship programs – Ross Biederman, President of Midwestern Broadcasting Company is a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Broadcaster’s (MAB) Foundation. The MAB Foundation is a 501c3 Foundation organization which conducts numerous educational activities, including providing scholarships. Mr. Biederman was also a major financial contributor to the formation of the Foundation.
Ø Midwestern Broadcasting Summer Internship – A summer internship program has been established in cooperation with the MAB Foundation. A student from Michigan State University (Justin Rose) was selected for the first Internship appointment. The student will work in a variety of station areas over the course of 8 weeks and will receive a $1000 scholarship grant as part of the program.
Ø Training of Management level personnel – October 25, 2006 – All department heads were issued refresher instructions on handling of any openings and of new hires. Also included was a manual on EEO guidelines that included information, instructions and reporting systems and forms.
Ø Review of EEO Files and Records – On September 2006, an alternative inspection was conducted through the Michigan Association of Broadcaster’s Inspection program. Included in the program was an inspection of the public files and of the EEO program information and records. Department Heads were given additional suggestions, advice and guidance.
